Film: Nuit Blanche

Spy Films produced this short film by Arev Manoukian.  Lots of beautiful slow-motion, water and glass.  I like the black & white retro look.  The film captures one of those fleeting moments of imagination that usually don’t involve both parties, but rather just the lonelier one.  Usually the guy.  The woman in the restaurant would probably be too distracted by her drink and her own reflection in the window.  The guy in the street is not going to stand a chance with this lady.  No way.  But it’s nice while it lasts.  I found it over at my favorite film place, No Fat Clips!!!

  1. I heard an interview with Arev Manoukian and Stephanie on CBC and decided to find the film. It is beautiful. I wondered if they would handle the scene of the woman passing through the glass like Cocteau’s Blood of a Poet, but it’s quite different, though equally poetic and visually dazzling.

  2. I like the background of music.
    It is horrible but romantic.
Moreover, it use the slow motion to show the strong feelings.
The man in the street and the woman in the restaurant are looking at each other.
When the man leaves, the woman feel unhappy.
These actions let me know that the man and the woman love each other very much.
After that, they can meet again because of an accident.

Although there are not any letters in this film, it express lots of feelings and messages.
It just play the background of the music.
    What a wonderful film!

  5. Well, it’s a great film whitout any words.
There is an unexpected ending of this film.
When everything seens to the end, but it also can be a start.

  6. Isn’t it only imagination that can break through the constraint of time and space and bring the impossible to reality?

  7. In the film, there are no any dialogues in the film.
    Can you get any meanings?
    Everyone can get different meanings.
For me,i think that this is romantic film.
The backgroud music can make me thinking more fantasies.
If I am the woman,I met my lover again.
Maybe i’ll tell him that I don’t love him now.
